La Mama season of The Truth is Longer Than a Lie cancelled, replaced by short play series In The Mens

Due to casting problems, the La Mama Courthouse season of The Truth is Longer Than a Lie (April 26 to May 7) has been cancelled. The three community shows on Mar 15 and 16 are still going ahead as planned.

Replacing The Truth at the La Mama Courthouse (April 19 to April 30) is a series of pocket comedies and dramas under the banner In The Mens. Originally performed in Sydney in 2008 at The Tap Gallery, this new show with some new additions finds original performer Ben Maclaine teaming up with Melbourne actor, Ben Grant. More details soon.

Damon Dukirk returns, Sons of Sun returns

flyingsolo5Sons of Son cover shotThe Youthful Adventures of Damon Dukirk starring Zach Wegner will have a second New York performance at the Secret Theatre, Long Island, as part of the Flying Solo Festival in late February. Another show returning is Sons of Sun (The Sam Phillips Story) which has had a good rest since the middle of last year, but will return to the Sydney Opera House Studio on the 3rd and 4th of November. The Truth is Longer Than a Lie – 2017 shows in March/April/May

The Truth is Longer Than a Lie is doing three community shows as a 50 minute condensed version of the play. All three performances are free of charge.

Wed March 15 – Monash Medical Centre, Lecture Theatre 3, Level 2, 246 Clayton Rd, Clayton @ 1pm

Wed March 15 – Chelsea Activity Hub (more details shortly)

Thurs March 16 – Dingley Village Neighbourhood House (more details shortly)

Following this from Wednesday April 26th onwards, The Truth is Longer Than a Lie will have ten performances (the full play) at the La Mama Courthouse in Carlton. Please see here for full details over the next couple of weeks.

The Youthful Adventures of Damon Dukirk shows in New York on November 5

The Youthful Adventures of Damon Dukirk (Parts 1 and 2) will be performed on Saturday November 5 as part of Bad Theater Fest in Brooklyn, NY. Damon Dukirk is a long-running character of mine, a hedonistic poet, hell-bent on cult infamy, parties, travel and fresh poetic inspiration. Highly credentialled New York-based actor, Zach Wegner, will take on the role. More details on the festival soon. You can check out Zach’s site here.
