Kieran Carroll is a playwright from Edithvale, Melbourne, Australia. He writes dramas, biographical works, adaptations and comedies.
Numerous plays have been produced in Australia, America and England. Productions include: Late, Late At Night – a stage adaptation of Rick Springfield’s best-selling autobiography (Touring 2022), She Wrote The Letter (St Martin’s Theatre & La Mama Theatre, 2022), The Youthful Adventures of Damon Dukirk (SaraSolo Festival, Florida, 2022), Sons of Sun – The Sam Phillips Story – (Sydney Opera House, 2014 – 2018 and ongoing), NEWK – The John Newcombe Story – (Glen Street Theatre, Sydney, 2020 and touring 2023) and The Truth is Longer Than a Lie (Various venues, 2015 – 2022).
Kieran has been a Writer-in-Residence at Yaddo (Saratoga Springs, New York), La Muse (France), The Kimmel Harding Center For The Arts (Nebraska City, USA) and Crexida Teatro (Bologna, Italy).
In 2015, he was a commissioned playwright at Monash University, Melbourne, writing and directing an adaptation of the Dr Neerosh Mudaly book The Truth Is Longer Than A Lie, a research investigation into child abuse. The play adaptation was published by Black Pepper Press in November 2015. In 2021, Kieran was commissioned by the City of Kingston to write Enough is Enough, a play about problem gambling.
All 2021 dates for NEWK (The John Newcombe Story) are now rescheduled for early 2023 due to COVID-19. NEWK 2023 dates appear in the NEWK section of the site.
