Kieran Carroll is a playwright from Edithvale, Melbourne, Australia. He writes biographical plays, adaptations, dramas and comedies. His plays have appeared at major Australian theatres such as Glen Street Theatre (Sydney) and the Redcliffe Entertainment Centre (Brisbane) as well as many prominent regional theatres in Victoria and NSW.
Numerous plays have been produced in Australia, America and England. Productions include: Late, Late At Night (The Rick Springfield Story) – a stage adaptation of Rick Springfield’s best-selling autobiography. In May 2024, the production had a worldwide debut as a pay-per-view streaming event and will tour the US in late 2026/27. His epic biographical play, Finchy – Sad as Hell, about the incredible life of actor, Peter Finch, is currently optioned in Los Angeles for Broadway development.
Other productions include: She Wrote The Letter (St Martin’s Theatre & La Mama Theatre, 2022), The Youthful Adventures of Damon Dukirk (SaraSolo Festival, Florida, 2022), Sons of Sun – Elvis, Jerry Lee, Johnny and Me – (Sydney Opera House, 2014 – 2018 and ongoing) and NEWK – The John Newcombe Story – (Glen Street Theatre, Sydney, 2020 and touring NSW and WA in 2026).
Kieran has had a number of prestigious writing residencies around the world. He also works in the community theatre sector for local Melbourne councils. In 2021, Kieran was commissioned by the City of Kingston, Melbourne to write Enough is Enough, a play about problem gambling.
Further works for staging in 2026-28 include the family history drama In Mordialloc Before the Stawell Gift, From a London Summer Hotel and The Dud Avocado, a one-woman stage adaptation of the 1958 best-selling comic novel by American writer, Elaine Dundy.
