2023 and into 2024

Enough is Enough, the City of Kingston play about problem gambling appears twice on Friday October 20th: 11am @ Clarinda Community Centre and 6.30pm at the Hampton Community Centre. Both events are free. Late, Late At Night (The Rick Springfield Story) appears for three Victorian regional dates on Thursday Nov 30 in Pyramid Hill, Friday December 1st in Elmore and Saturday December 2nd in Heathcote. Sons of Sun – Elvis, Jerry Lee, Johnny and Me resumes with the two members for NSW shows in January 2024. Newk (The John Newcombe Story) resumes with some Victorian regional appearances in February 2024.

Late, Late At Night (The Rick Springfield Story) the pop-rock play based on Rick Springfield’s autobiography plays at Twin Towns in Tweed Heads and The Capitol Theatre, Tamworth on Friday March 3rd and Saturday March 4th. Dahlin! It’s The Jeanne Little Show plays a 10.30am matinee at Mordy HQ in Mordialloc. Newk (The John Newcombe Story) tours from Tuesday Mar 7 to Sun Mar 19 in regional Victoria and Gosford.

Late, Late At Night – Debut Show and others coming up

Late, Late at Night, the two act musical play based on Rick Springfield’s autobiography had a most successful debut performance on Thursday April 14th at the Shirley Burke Theatre with a series of regional shows to follow. Sons of Sun returns with two shows in Parkes, NSW at the Elvis Festival on the 20th and 21st of April. Enough is Enough, the anti-gambling play will be presented at the Oakleigh Hall on Sunday June 19th. She Wrote The Letter had a very successful debut week at St.Martins, South Yarra and will have a second season at La Mama HQ from June 22 to July 3.

2021 into 2022

2021, as it was for so many people in the arts, was a very stop and start affair. Some Sons of Sun shows and Dahlin It’s The Jeanne Show managed to hit the stage between lockdowns. In late November, the anti-gambling play Enough is Enough had its debut performances. A new play She Wrote The Letter was cancelled twice but will hopefully debut in April 2022 at St Martins Theatre, Melbourne followed by a two week season at La Mama, Melbourne in June/July 2022. It is also hoped that The Youthful Adventures of Damon Dukirk will have a full staging at the SaraSolo Festival in Florida in March 2022. NEWK (The John Newcombe Story) had cancelled tours in 2020 and 2021 but will reappear to tour in March 2023. Finally, Rick Springfield’s Late, Late At Night, a one man musical play will make its debut in April 2022 with a number of dates to follow.

The Truth is Longer Than a Lie plus other shows

July is shaping up as a busy month at Type Faster Productions. The Truth is Longer Than a Lie returns for its first performance since April 2019. The City of Monash hosts the play at The Encore Theatre, Clayton on Thursday July 1st @ 6.30pm.

Dahlin! It’s The Jeanne Little Show plays Mordy HQ in Mordialloc on Friday night, July 2nd @ 8pm. It’s a dinner and show package.

Enough is Enough is a community play about problem gambling initiated by the City of Kingston. The play will have two showings at the Chelsea Activity Hub on Sunday 18th July in the afternoon and an evening performance at The Shirley Burke Theatre, Parkdale. More details soon.

Finally, in July, a new work She Wrote The Letter based on a real life correspondence for over thirty years between a New Zealand woman and a former East German woman debuts at St.Martins Theatre in South Yarra on Tuesday 13th July for a one week season. Sons of Sun returns to Victoria on Fri Mar 5 and Sat Mar 6

Sons of SunElvis, Jerry Lee, Johnny and Me – the 1950s rock and roll play about Sun Records founder, Sam Phillips, returns to Victoria for the first time since 2015. After many successful Opera House shows, this 1950s musical feast of classics woven with the story of the Sun Records studio is a great one for all ages. In this dark year for theatre, am hoping The Truth is Longer Than a Lie can have its two week season at The Burrow in Fitzroy, Melbourne in August. September is planned to be busy with a regional tour of NEWK (The John Newcombe Story), Sons of Sun playing Melbourne for the first time since 2015 and some Dahlin! It’s The Jeanne Little Show also appearing around this time. In the meantime, new plays are being made. The work continues.
