2016 – early thoughts

It seems to be a time where it’s good to be working on new things. I have two new plays on the move, a two-hander set in a Sydney inner-city flat in 1975 entitled Our Hearts Were Broken So Long Ago alongside some preparatory work on an infamous Australian expatriate painter.

However, as the new year begins, it feels very much that what has amassed over the last three or four years must be kept alive or given more life. Sons of Sun (The Sam Phillips Story), The Giraffe’s Uncle (The Les Robinson Story), All The Things She Gave Me, Extractions, NEWK! (The John Newcombe Story) and The Truth is Longer Than A Lie…2016 should be the year where the unproduced works need to find lift-off and the previously produced ones need to find ways to go around again. That’s what I’ll be attempting.

The Truth’s 2nd week

The Truth is Longer Than a Lie begins its second week on Wednesday Nov 18 at the Richmond Theatrette, 415 Church St, Richmond. Also, the book of the play is being launched at 5PM on Saturday in the theatre foyer by acclaimed playwright/actor, Alan Hopgood. The launch is a free event. Tickets for the show are available on the door or through Ticketbo.
