2016 – early thoughts

It seems to be a time where it’s good to be working on new things. I have two new plays on the move, a two-hander set in a Sydney inner-city flat in 1975 entitled Our Hearts Were Broken So Long Ago alongside some preparatory work on an infamous Australian expatriate painter.

However, as the new year begins, it feels very much that what has amassed over the last three or four years must be kept alive or given more life. Sons of Sun (The Sam Phillips Story), The Giraffe’s Uncle (The Les Robinson Story), All The Things She Gave Me, Extractions, NEWK! (The John Newcombe Story) and The Truth is Longer Than A Lie…2016 should be the year where the unproduced works need to find lift-off and the previously produced ones need to find ways to go around again. That’s what I’ll be attempting.
