Giovanni Boccaccio was a 14th century Italian writer whose 700th birthday was in 2013. In 2013, Brown Univesity in Rhode Island held a competition for modern day adaptations of his short stories/novellas. My futuristic Los Angeles adaptation of two young men having to carry a dead death metal singer across a treacherous city in order to win the love of a fussy princess finished second. Now, the play will be performed on July 28th and July 30th at the Art of Adaptation Festival in Chicago. Directed by former Brisbane, now Chicago-based theatre director, Bec Willett.
