Directing Belfast singer/songwriter Andy White

Directing Belfast singer/songwriter Andy White

Andy White is a Belfast singer/songwriter who for the past ten years has called Melbourne home when not touring the world. He has been making albums since the mid 80s with much success and his road memoir 21st Century Troubadour (Lagan Press) is a fantastic journey about the joys and hassles of gigs from Alaska to Italy. I’m directing Andy in a proposed stage show version of 21st Century Troubadour which will feature songs, poems and stories of life on a round the world ticket. The stage show will play Melbourne later in the year with plans for it to travel through England, Ireland and the UK after that.

The show will utilize a local choir, Melbourne actors Paul Mercuri and Lee McClenaghan, and be co-directed by Kieran Carroll and Vic McEwan. The show will be simulcast on local station Spirit FM and will be ‘Drive-In’ Theatre; the audience of 20 cars per performance watching the play from their seats and tuning in their radios.
